Decagon does not publish interview stages. The product marketing team is small and cares about writing, launches, and explaining agents to more than one buyer. What decides the loop is whether you can carry the concierge story and say how Decagon beats Sierra and the suite vendors.

Decagon has a small, growing product marketing team that values strong writing, launch experience, and the ability to explain AI agents to several buyer personas. It doesn't publish interview stages. What matters most is fluency in its concierge customer experience story and a view on how it beats Sierra and the suite vendors.

## Practice questions

- **Decagon describes itself as the conversational AI platform for concierge customer experiences. Who has to believe the word concierge for it to work, and what proof would you put in front of them?** Concierge is the center of the Series D story. This tests whether you can turn an aspirational brand word into proof a head of support and a CFO would each accept.
- **A prospect is choosing between Decagon and Sierra and says the demos look the same. What do you give the account executive before the next call?** Sacra lists Sierra first among Decagon's rivals. The interviewer wants a specific difference a rep can repeat, such as how operators control the agent, instead of a list of features.
- **Decagon can price per conversation or per resolution. Which would you lead with for a large airline, and how would you explain the tradeoff in the sales deck?** Pricing is a positioning decision in this category because buyers compare it with headcount costs. This probes commercial judgment and whether you can write about pricing without hiding the risk to the customer.
- **Duet Autopilot proposes fixes to the agent and waits for a human to approve them. How would you position a self-improving agent to a compliance team at a bank?** Decagon's customers include financial companies like Chime and Block. The question checks whether you can sell automation to the people most nervous about it, and whether governance shows up in your messaging.
- **Between June and September 2026, Decagon shipped Duet Autopilot, Browser Actions, Decagon Assist, Campaign Composer, and Generative Analytics. How would you tier those launches, and why?** The launch pace is high and the product now spans automation, human agent tools, and outbound. Interviewers want to see a tiering rule you can defend and an honest view of which launch deserves the most attention.
- **Zendesk and Salesforce both sell AI agents inside the help desk and CRM a customer already owns. Write the first two sentences of Decagon's response.** CEO Jesse Zhang argued in June 2026 that legacy vendors made themselves indispensable by standing between businesses and their customers. This tests whether you can turn that argument into sharp competitive copy.
- **Decagon is entering Brazil and the Benelux in the same quarter. What changes in the messaging, and what stays the same?** Decagon announced both expansions in September 2026. The question probes localization judgment and whether you know which proof points travel across markets.

## What Decagon publishes about hiring, and what it doesn’t

Decagon's careers page lists values, benefits, and offices. It doesn't describe interview stages, take-homes, or timelines for any role. Its culture centers on working together in person, which an engineering post on its blog describes in some detail.

Public reports about Decagon's product marketing loop are close to nonexistent, and none could be verified for this page. Don't trust a round count you read elsewhere unless it names the role and the date. Instead, ask the recruiter directly for the stages, whether there is a written or presentation exercise, and whether you will meet a founder.

A founder meeting is a reasonable thing to ask about here. Decagon is still founder-led, with Jesse Zhang as CEO and Ashwin Sreenivas as president, and both sign major announcements on the company blog. If you meet either, expect questions about the market more than about your résumé.

## What Decagon looks for in product marketers

Decagon looks for product marketers with four or more years of experience, usually at high-growth SaaS or AI companies. The job includes helping build and scale the function while working closely with senior PMM leaders.

You partner with product, sales, and marketing on messaging and go-to-market plans, lead launches from positioning through customer communications, and turn technical ideas into clear stories for different personas. Competitive analysis and customer research are part of the work too. Decagon puts weight on strong writing and on positioning itself as a category leader, so bring writing samples that make a category argument.

Product marketing works alongside growth, performance, field marketing, brand design, and marketing operations. Ask how it splits work with growth marketing, which now owns the website and AI search.

Decagon sells mostly through enterprise sales, to customers like Avis Budget Group, Block's Cash App and Square, Chime, Oura Health, and Deutsche Telekom, and it invests in field marketing. Product marketing therefore spends much of its time on sales narratives, customer proof, and competitive support for large deals.

## Decagon’s concierge story and the rivals it runs into

Decagon sells AI agents that handle customer conversations across chat, email, voice, and SMS. Its main building block is the Agent Operating Procedure, or AOP, which is how teams define what an agent does. Duet is the layer for building and improving agents. The January 2026 Series D post positions all of it as a shift from configuration-driven systems to AI-native ones, in service of a concierge experience for every customer.

- **January 2026.** A $250 million Series D led by Coatue and Index Ventures valued Decagon at $4.5 billion, three times its valuation from the June 2025 Series C.
- **June 2026.** Duet Autopilot launched as a self-improving agent that finds issues, tests fixes in simulation, and waits for human approval. The same month, Jesse Zhang published a letter arguing that the customer relationship belongs to the business and not the vendor.
- **July 2026.** Decagon became available on AWS Marketplace and ran a roadshow in Australia.
- **August 2026.** Browser Actions let agents act in any web-based system, Decagon Assist brought the platform to human support reps, and agents gained live web search through Perplexity.
- **September 2026.** Campaign Composer added proactive outreach, Generative Analytics turned conversation data into insights, and Decagon announced expansion into Brazil and the Benelux.

Sacra estimates Decagon reached $100 million in annualized revenue in July 2026, up from $44 million at the end of 2025. Those are outside estimates, so label them as such if you use them. Sacra also lists the rivals that come up most, including Sierra, Salesforce, Zendesk, and Intercom with its Fin agent.

Breadth is the positioning problem to think about. Decagon started as an automated support agent and now sells tools for human reps, outbound campaigns, and analytics, each of which moves it closer to the suites it competes with. A good interview answer explains how the concierge story holds all of that together without turning into a platform list.

## Decagon’s four values and how they show up in the loop

Decagon names four values on its careers page and uses them throughout hiring. They are Just Get It Done, Invent What Customers Want, Winner's Mindset, and The Polymath Principle. Each one maps to a kind of story you should have ready.

- **Just Get It Done.** Prepare a launch you shipped on a short timeline with an imperfect plan. Say what you cut and why.
- **Invent What Customers Want.** Bring an example where customer research changed the product or the message, with the specific quote or data that moved people.
- **Winner's Mindset.** Have a competitive story with a result, such as a win rate that changed after new enablement. Decagon competes in a crowded category and will want to hear that you like the fight.
- **The Polymath Principle.** Show range beyond messaging. A PMM who has written the pricing page, sat in on sales calls, and built a demo will fit better than one who only writes messaging documents.

Run each story against the [rubric](https://mokk.ai/pmm-rubric) and trim anything that takes more than two minutes to tell. A fast-moving company tends to reward concise answers.

## Three stories and one exercise to prepare for Decagon

Decagon's interviewers will know the product and the category better than you do. Your edge is preparation that shows you think like someone already on the team.

1. **A launch story with a sales outcome.** Pick one where you can name the pipeline or win-rate effect, because Decagon's buyers are enterprises and its PMM work feeds large deals.
2. **A competitive story.** Choose a time you repositioned against a better-known rival. Be ready to apply the same thinking to Sierra or a help desk suite.
3. **A story about explaining AI to a skeptic.** Support leaders worry about wrong answers and brand risk. Show how you earned trust with a nervous buyer or an internal team.

Then do one exercise before the loop. Pick one launch from the summer of 2026, such as Decagon Assist, and write a one-page launch brief with the audience, the core message, three proof points, and the enablement a rep would need. Bring your view of what the actual launch got right and what you would change. The [go-to-market questions](https://mokk.ai/pmm-questions/gtm-strategy) are good practice for talking through it out loud.

## Questions to ask your Decagon interviewers

- Where do deals against Sierra get decided, in the demo, the pilot, or the pricing conversation?
- How does product marketing split ownership with growth marketing now that growth owns the website and AI search?
- Which of this summer's launches has changed deal conversations the most so far?
- How do customers react when the story moves from automating support to tools for human reps and outbound?
- What does the team expect from product marketing in Brazil and the Benelux?
- How often do the founders review messaging before it ships?

Choose two that fit the person in front of you. The [questions to ask your interviewer](https://mokk.ai/guides/pmm-questions-to-ask-interviewer) guide covers how to follow up on the answer.

## Where people slip in Decagon interviews

The first pattern is pitching AI support agents in general. Every rival claims faster resolutions and lower costs, so answers that stop there sound interchangeable. Anchor on what Decagon says is different, such as operator control through AOPs and self-improvement with human approval.

The second is ignoring the buyer's fear. Support leaders are handing their customers to software, and a message that only talks about deflection will lose the room. The third is leaving logistics until the offer stage. If working in person most of the week is a problem for you, raise it with the recruiter early.

## Frequently asked questions

**Does Decagon hire product marketers remotely?** Decagon's careers page lists remote as an option for some roles, but the company describes a culture built around working in person. Ask your recruiter what applies to product marketing before you go far in the process.

**How many rounds is the Decagon PMM interview?** Decagon doesn't publish its stages, and no reliable product marketing reports were found. Ask the recruiter for the full list, including whether there is a written or presentation exercise.

**Is Decagon hiring product marketers right now?** Check Decagon's job board for current openings. Product marketing there is a team that is still being built, so new roles appear over time, and a referral can help you hear about one early.

**What does a Decagon product marketing manager earn?** Decagon doesn't publish standard pay for product marketing, and figures from individual openings go stale quickly. Ask the recruiter for the range early, and factor in equity, which Decagon also offers.

**Who are Decagon's main competitors?** Sacra names Sierra as the closest startup rival. Salesforce, Zendesk, and Intercom's Fin also sell AI agents, often inside tools the customer already owns.
