Runway does not publish its interview process. People who interviewed for go-to-market roles report a recruiter screen, a hiring manager call, a written assignment, and a presentation or a panel. The senior marketing role owns the enterprise segment, so build the assignment as a vertical plan with numbers.

Runway does not publish its interview process. Its open Director or VP of Product Marketing role owns the enterprise segment and is measured on business growth, so prepare around that. People who interviewed for Runway go-to-market roles report a recruiter screen, a hiring manager call, a written assignment, and a presentation or panel with the team. Expect an assignment either way, and build it around a vertical segment plan with numbers, since that is what the role is judged on.

## Practice questions

- **Runway now sells Runway Creative, Runway Dev, Runway Robotics, and Runway Enterprise under one brand. Where does the world model story help a buyer and where does it get in the way?** The homepage leads with "Building Real-World Intelligence," while a retail brand's marketing lead buys video for campaigns. The question probes whether you can route one company story to very different buyers without losing any of them.
- **You own the enterprise segment. How do you turn individual creators already paying inside a company into an enterprise contract?** The Director or VP role asks for acquisition and conversion work with the growth team, using usage and win-loss data. Interviewers want a named signal, a named trigger, and a named owner for each step.
- **Adobe is a Runway investor and puts Gen-4.5 inside Firefly as its preferred API creativity partner. Is Adobe a channel or a competitor, and how does that change your messaging?** The December 2025 partnership put Runway models inside the tool many creative teams already use. This tests how you position when a partner owns the customer relationship.
- **OpenAI shut down Sora in 2026 and Google keeps shipping Veo. What does Runway say to a studio choosing between a focused vendor and a platform giant?** OpenAI's exit changed the competitive set, and Google has distribution Runway does not. The answer should rest on control, consistency, workflow tools like Aleph and Edit Studio, and studio relationships.
- **Suppose you own retail and ecommerce. Build the first vertical value proposition for it, with the metric you would own in the first two quarters.** Runway's priority verticals are media, retail and ecommerce, and software. Product marketing here is judged on growth as well as positioning, so the proposition has to come with a number attached.
- **A studio's legal team asks where Runway's training data came from. How does that question shape what marketing can claim?** Runway is a defendant in the Andersen v. Stability AI copyright case, and a 2024 404 Media report raised questions about training data. Claims about rights and provenance need legal review before they reach a deck.
- **Runway Dev offers one API for Runway models and third-party models from other labs. Why would a developer choose it over going direct?** The July 2026 launch named customers such as Adobe, ElevenLabs, Shutterstock, and Gamma. The question checks whether you can position an aggregation layer against the model providers it includes.

## What Runway's go-to-market hires describe about the loop

Runway's careers page lists benefits and open roles but says nothing about interview stages, so everything specific about the loop comes from other people.

Two go-to-market reports on Glassdoor are the most useful. They describe sales roles, and product marketing may differ, so treat them as a likely shape.

Two reported Runway go-to-market loops, from Glassdoor
| Stage | Enterprise GTM report | Account executive report, January 2026 |
| --- | --- | --- |
| First call | A 30-minute recruiter screen | A call with a member of the executive team |
| Second call | A 30-minute hiring manager call on customer profile and deals | A call with the People team |
| Assignment | An asynchronous case on a new market for an AI product | An assignment, then a presentation to the GTM team |
| Final | A 30-minute mock panel with discovery, walkthrough, and questions | An onsite with four team members |
| Close | Not described | Reference checks, then a verbal offer |
| Length | About four weeks | Two to three weeks |

The first report says the written case took two to four hours and that questions were about what you would do next, not what you did before. That fits a company whose PMM role asks for someone "shipping today." Ask your recruiter whether the product marketing loop includes a presentation, who sees it, and whether the co-CEOs or other executives join.

## The Runway PMM role that is measured on revenue

Runway opened a Director or VP of Product Marketing role in July 2026. It describes Runway Enterprise as creative tools, a generative media developer platform, model licensing, and forward-deployed creatives and researchers.

Runway calls it "not a purely positioning or 'launch' role," and the hire will be measured on the growth of the business. The work covers defining enterprise audiences and jobs to be done, running win-loss and usage analysis, and owning enterprise and vertical positioning. It also means driving acquisition and conversion with the growth team, owning the metrics, running experiments, tracking the AI creative tools market, and enabling sales. It may manage a team of PMMs as a player-coach.

The bar is eight or more years in product marketing and experience launching into verticals. Pricing and packaging work and experience running product-led and sales-led motions together are listed as pluses. Two earlier senior PMM roles, both now closed, covered a prosumer audience of creators, marketers, and small business owners, and developers alongside enterprise. So the team splits by segment, and this hire leads the enterprise side.

Around the role sit growth programs, paid, lifecycle, and event marketers, a YouTube creator and educator role, and a growing enterprise sales team. Runway still runs a large self-serve business, and its homepage cites more than 60 million creatives. The enterprise PMM has to build on that base without slowing it down.

## From video models to world models at Runway

Runway started as a tool for filmmakers and now describes its mission as building AI to simulate the world. The product timeline since 2025 shows that shift, and interviewers will expect you to know it.

- **Gen-4, March 2025.** Gen-4 brought consistent characters and locations from reference images.
- **Aleph, July 2025.** Aleph added in-context video editing, and Aleph 2.0 and Edit Studio followed in May 2026.
- **Gen-4.5, December 2025.** Runway said it ranked first on the Artificial Analysis text-to-video leaderboard at launch. Native audio and multi-shot generation arrived later that month.
- **GWM-1, December 2025.** Runway's first general world model, with versions for explorable worlds, robotics, and avatars. It is the basis for Runway Robotics.
- **Runway Dev, July 2026.** This is one API for Runway models and third-party models, with named users including Adobe, ElevenLabs, Shutterstock, and Gamma.

The business numbers moved fast too. Runway raised a $308 million Series D led by General Atlantic in April 2025. General Atlantic led again in February 2026, a $315 million Series E at a $5.3 billion valuation, with Nvidia, Fidelity, Adobe Ventures, and AMD Ventures among the investors. Bloomberg reported in September 2026 that Runway had reached $200 million in annual recurring revenue, double the figure from five months earlier. In February 2026 Anastasis Germanidis became co-CEO alongside Cristóbal Valenzuela, with a new CTO, COO, and chief people officer named at the same time.

Partnerships are part of the story. Lionsgate commissioned a custom model in 2024, and IMAX screened Runway's AI Film Festival shorts in 2025. Adobe made Runway its preferred API creativity partner in December 2025. On competition, OpenAI announced in March 2026 that it would shut down Sora, with the API closing in September. Google's Veo and Genie, Kling, Luma, and World Labs remain. Runway is also a defendant in the Andersen v. Stability AI copyright case, which was scheduled for trial in September 2026. Check the status before your interview.

## How Runway describes its team and what that tests

Runway describes itself the same way across its openings. It says it is building AI to simulate the world by merging art and science. It describes the team as creative, open minded, caring, and ambitious people who want to change the world. The same text says Runway aspires to keep building impossible things and that great things come from great teams. The PMM role adds a "high accountability culture."

- **Art and science.** Runway's buyers include film studios and robotics teams. Show you can talk to a creative director and an engineer with equal ease, ideally with a story where you did both in one launch.
- **Accountability.** The role owns growth metrics. Bring an example where you owned a number, missed it, and said so, along with what you changed.
- **Speed.** Runway stresses that things move quickly, so pick a story with a short timeline and a tradeoff that cost you something.
- **Use the product.** Runway is a tool for makers, and people there use it. Make something with Gen-4.5 and Aleph before the first call, and have a specific opinion about where it broke.

## A segment plan to draft before the Runway assignment

Both reported loops centered on an assignment, and the PMM role is judged on growth. So draft the assignment before anyone gives it to you. Pick one priority vertical, such as retail and ecommerce, and build a short plan with these parts.

A draft Runway enterprise segment plan
| Part | What to include |
| --- | --- |
| The buyer | A named role, such as head of creative at a retail brand, and the work they need done |
| The problem | What video production costs them today in time, money, or missed campaigns |
| The proof | Runway features and public customers that speak to that problem |
| The motion | How self-serve users inside the account become an enterprise deal |
| The metric | One number you would own for two quarters, with a baseline you would ask for on day one |
| The experiment | One acquisition or conversion test you would run with the growth team |

Keep it to three or four pages or slides. If the real assignment differs, the thinking still transfers. Prepare one story where your research changed a roadmap and one where an experiment moved a number, since the role asks for both. The [presentation round guide](https://mokk.ai/guides/pmm-presentation-round) and the [senior interview guide](https://mokk.ai/guides/pmm-senior-interview) cover the delivery for a Director or VP loop.

## What to ask Runway's leaders about the enterprise business

- Which enterprise metric will this role own in the first two quarters, and who owns it today?
- How does the enterprise segment split with the prosumer PMM work, and where do the handoffs sit?
- How do sales and marketing handle Adobe as an investor, partner, and competitor at once?
- How much of the enterprise pipeline comes from self-serve usage today?
- How will the world model work change what enterprise customers buy in the next year?
- What changed in how go-to-market decisions get made after the co-CEO structure began?

The first question matters most. A clear answer means the role is ready to be measured, and a vague one means you would define the metric yourself.

## Where Runway product marketing interviews go off track

The biggest miss is presenting a messaging document as the assignment. Runway has said this is not a positioning-only job, and a plan without a number reads as the wrong instinct. Talking only about film is another common miss. Studios matter, but the named verticals are media, retail and ecommerce, and software. Runway Robotics adds a buyer most people never mention. Leaning on model quality also hurts, because leaderboards change monthly. Interviewers want a reason to choose Runway that lasts longer than the next model release.

## Frequently asked questions

**Does Runway hire product marketers remotely?** Yes, generally. Runway's careers page says most departments hire remote roles, and it pays a remote work stipend. Confirm the arrangement for your role with the recruiter.

**How many rounds is the Runway interview?** Runway does not publish its stages. Two go-to-market reports on Glassdoor describe four to six steps over two to four weeks, including an assignment and a presentation or panel. Those were sales roles, so confirm the product marketing loop with your recruiter.

**Is there a take-home assignment in the Runway interview?** Both reported go-to-market loops included one. One report describes a case on bringing an AI product to a new market, taking two to four hours. Another describes an assignment presented to the GTM team.

**How much does a product marketing leader at Runway make?** Runway sets pay during the interview process and says it may differ outside the US. Ask the recruiter for the range on the first call so you can compare it with your expectations early.

**Who runs Runway?** Cristóbal Valenzuela and Anastasis Germanidis have been co-CEOs since February 2026. Runway named a new CTO, COO, chief people officer, and chief creative officer in the same announcement.
