What this role does
You own OpenAI’s enterprise narrative, and you connect each product story to it. You write the pitches, executive narratives, and major launch messages with Product and Research. Marketing, communications, and enablement carry that narrative, and customer feedback is how you revise it.

What you would do
You partner with product and industry marketers so the portfolio stays differentiated and each audience still gets the depth it needs. You work with Product and Research to explain complex capabilities accurately, and you drop a claim when the evidence does not support it. GTM and customer marketing bring the competitive context and the proof a buyer can check.
The core enterprise pitch, the executive narrative, and the major launch message are yours to write, not a draft you only comment on. Marketing, communications, and enablement apply that narrative, and customer feedback and message testing show what to change. You coach those partners on the writing, and you help decide how the messaging function should grow. The seat is based in San Francisco, three days a week in the office, with occasional travel.
Why OpenAI is hiring now
OpenAI has not published a reason for opening this seat. This is our read. OpenAI now sells ChatGPT Enterprise, the API, and agents to the same buyers. Those buyers need one story for why OpenAI, not disconnected product pitches. The first job is a narrative sales and communications can repeat, revised when customer evidence changes.
Who would do this well
OpenAI asks for 14 or more years in B2B product marketing, positioning, or messaging, and for enterprise narratives you shaped. Bring writing you did yourself, not work you reviewed. Include a time you told a technical leader an appealing line was not supported. Bring a narrative that sales adopted, one that changed how buyers evaluated the product. You use AI tools fluently, and you still choose which lines a person has to review before a buyer sees them.
How to prep tonight
Choose one OpenAI product a business buyer already compares with a competitor. Draft the narrative you would give an executive, a seller, and a technical leader, and mark the sentence you would cut because the proof is thin. Name the customer evidence that would make you revise it next quarter. Close with how you would coach the partner who wants that sentence back.
