What this role does
You turn Perplexity’s products into a clear point of view, covering who each one is for, what it replaces, and why it wins. You run launches with product, sales, and marketing, and you give customer-facing teams talk tracks, objection handling, and competitive intelligence. The work is measured on pipeline, activation, and retention. The role is hybrid, based in San Francisco.

What you would do
You run launches as a repeatable process. Before a launch, you define the success metrics and sequence readiness across product, sales, and marketing. Enablement and proof points are ready on launch day. Afterward, you tie the messaging to pipeline, activation, and retention, and you run small experiments on pricing, packaging, and positioning.
Customer-facing teams get talk tracks, objection handling, and competitive intelligence from you. You keep a current view of buyer needs and the alternatives they consider, so the narrative stays tied to value you can prove. You also lead without authority. That means aligning decisions with product, sales, and marketing early, and flagging risks before they slow a launch.
Why Perplexity is hiring now
This is our read, not a reason Perplexity has published. Perplexity now sells to companies as well as to individuals. Each product needs positioning that executives, sales, and partners describe the same way. Without one owner, each team explains the product its own way. A strong first quarter is one launch with clear metrics, enablement ready on day one, and a narrative the field repeats.
Who would do this well
Perplexity asks for eight or more years in product marketing, ideally at a high-growth technology company where you owned launches end to end. They want someone who can make a technical product simple and specific for executive, sales, and partner teams. You should be able to state a product’s value in one sentence and defend it with data. The pace is fast. You will often decide before everything is settled.
How to prep tonight
Pick one Perplexity product you can use today. Write who it is for, what it replaces, and why it wins. Cut any claim you cannot prove. Add the top objection a seller will hear and your answer to it. Then list the success metrics you would set for its next launch, and one pricing, packaging, or positioning experiment you would run first.
How Perplexity describes launches
Perplexity describes the launch work this way. Expect questions about what it means in practice.
“Drive launches as a system, not an event.”
Common questions
- Which Perplexity role is this?
- The general product marketing manager role. Other Perplexity product marketing roles, such as solutions and partnerships, are separate jobs. Ask early which products you would support.
- What should sales be able to do with your work?
- Handle the main objections, know the competitive alternatives, and explain the product the way you would to an executive. If only marketing can explain the narrative, it is not ready.
- Does the experience have to be in AI?
- Perplexity does not require it. It asks for eight or more years of product marketing, ideally at a high-growth technology company. Use the product before the interview so your examples come from your own use.
