Interview format

No interview process is published for Listen Labs, and no candidate reports exist. The careers page gives you culture framing and nothing more. It describes a tight-knit team that moves quickly, loves the details and listens obsessively to users. Ask the recruiter for the stages on your first call.

Product marketing is already established at Listen Labs, so you would be joining a function instead of founding one. Marketing is wide for a company this size, covering strategy, customer marketing, communications, experiential work and a European push. Growth sits in a separate organization. Your scope would be bounded by people who already own adjacent territory, so find out early where those lines fall.

Listen Labs cares about launches you personally owned, meaning what you decided, what you wrote and what happened to adoption afterward. Nobody has confirmed how that gets asked, so prepare the story and stay flexible about the wording. Bring a writing portfolio too, because craft sits high on their hiring bar.

Sample questions

6 questions
  1. Q1

Insights professionals built careers on human rigor. How do you sell them an AI that moderates the interview?

This is the central objection, and it lands on professional identity more than on features. Strong answers respect the expertise and reposition the researcher as the person designing the study and interpreting what comes back. Weak answers argue that the model is good enough.

FrameworkObjection reframing (identity preservation, role elevation, rigor proof, pilot design)

    Answer this one out loud
  2. Q2

The budget could come from software or from agency spend. Which do you go after and how does the pitch change?

Listen Labs competes with legacy research tools and with agencies. Those are different buyers, different approval paths and different comparison points. Pick one, name the number you are displacing and build the message around that number.

FrameworkBudget displacement (source of funds, comparison anchor, ROI math, procurement path)

    Answer this one out loud
  3. Q3

Your account executives have never run a research study. How do you get them credible in front of an insights leader?

Listen Labs hires sellers without research backgrounds, so onboarding them properly is part of the job. Describe the artifacts, the practice cadence and how you would know it worked. Training decks and a wiki page will not hold up.

FrameworkEnablement program (foundational curriculum, talk track design, objection drills, field certification)

    Answer this one out loud
  4. Q4

Listen Labs delivers executive-ready insight in hours. In a field where slowness signals rigor, how do you market speed?

Speed invites a quality doubt in research the way a low price does in luxury. They want to hear you pair the claim with evidence, and decide whether speed leads the message or supports a different one.

FrameworkClaim construction (proof pairing, message hierarchy, risk reversal, customer evidence)

    Answer this one out loud
  5. Q5

Insights teams buy research and so do product and marketing teams. How would you package for both?

Central research functions and self-serve product teams want different things from the same platform. The interviewer is testing whether you can design packaging that serves both without creating conflict inside a single account at renewal.

FrameworkPackaging design (segment needs, tiering logic, expansion path, account conflict avoidance)

    Answer this one out loud
  6. Q6

Walk us through a launch you owned. What you decided, what you wrote, what happened to adoption and what you would change.

This is the question Listen Labs is most likely to put to you, so prepare it carefully. They want the decisions and the writing more than the timeline. Bring the adoption number and be honest about the part that did not work.

FrameworkLaunch retrospective (decisions and tradeoffs, artifacts produced, adoption outcome, what you would change)

    Answer this one out loud

What they look for

Three to five years of B2B SaaS product marketing is the stated range, with end-to-end launches, enablement and competitive work all in scope. Product marketing already has leadership and a shape, so you would inherit priorities instead of setting them. Ask what your manager owns and where your line sits, because the answer changes the job substantially.

Writing carries heavy weight. They ask for a portfolio and say plainly that craft matters and details get noticed. Send three pieces with a decision behind them, like a positioning document that changed a roadmap or a launch narrative sales kept using six months later. Volume helps you less than a short set you can talk about.

They want someone fluent using AI for research and competitive intelligence, and someone who will build tooling so go to market can self-serve the current messaging. The other half of the job is being a trusted advisor to sales, close enough to hear a failing talk track and say why it fails. Bring an example of telling a seller something they did not want to hear.

Insider tips

Run a study on the product if you can get access. More than two million interviews have been completed on the platform, and the difference between describing the workflow and having used it shows within ten minutes. If access is not possible, interview a researcher you know about how they work today and what they would refuse to hand to software.

Know the customer list and what it implies. Google, Microsoft, Anthropic, Perplexity, Sweetgreen, Replit and Nestlé span technology and consumer brands, and roughly fifteen percent of the Fortune 100 is already using the product. That mix should shape which segment you argue for when packaging comes up.

Since nothing is published and nobody has posted a report, ask the recruiter directly for the stages, the interviewers and whether there is an exercise. Marketing is a wide function and growth sits in a different organization, so ask who you would work with day to day. The answer tells you what the job will look like.
