Interview format

HeyGen has a product marketing function and it pulls in two directions. One half chases creator distribution and viral launches. The other half serves an enterprise motion that now reaches most of the Fortune 100. Which half a given opening leans toward moves around, so ask early which side of the business you would serve. That answer changes the work you should bring.

The company does not publish an interview process. Glassdoor reports about three interviews of 30 to 60 minutes each, usually one technical and two behavioral, at a difficulty around 3.2. That sample is small and it is drawn from across functions.

One report from a marketing applicant should shape how you prepare. The person was asked to review the entire go to market function and present several strategy points, which is a lot of unpaid work. Ask what the exercise involves and how it will be used before you agree to it.

6 questions
  1. Q1

Thirty million users sit alongside 85 percent of the Fortune 100. How do you run one brand across both without the enterprise motion killing the viral one?

This is the central commercial tension at HeyGen. Enterprise marketing tends to sand down the things that make a creator product spread. They want to hear what you would protect and what you would let go.

FrameworkDual-motion brand strategy (shared brand core, separate proof and channels, guardrails)

    Answer this one out loud
  2. Q2

HeyGen offers unlimited generation while Synthesia meters credits. Is unlimited a position you can hold as compute costs rise?

Pricing is positioning here. They want to know whether you understand the gross margin risk sitting behind the claim, and what you would say to customers if the company had to introduce limits.

FrameworkPricing as positioning (value metric, margin sensitivity, migration messaging)

    Answer this one out loud
  3. Q3

Synthesia owns the enterprise trust story. How do you take ground where a competitor is strongest?

Attacking a strength is harder than attacking a weakness and they know it. A strong answer redefines what trust means for this buyer, then backs the new definition with certifications, controls and named customers.

FrameworkCompetitive reframe (redefine the evaluation criteria, proof points, third-party validation)

    Answer this one out loud
  4. Q4

Deepfake and consent concerns surface in every enterprise deal. How do you handle that in marketing instead of leaving it to policy?

Avatar products carry reputational risk that shows up in the buying committee. They want to see you address consent, watermarking and provenance inside the story itself, in language legal will approve.

FrameworkRisk-forward messaging (objection anticipation, consent and provenance proof, approved language)

    Answer this one out loud
  5. Q5

Assume the big model labs ship credible avatar generation next year. What is left that HeyGen can claim?

Leadership is already asking this. Model quality will commoditize. The defensible answers usually live in workflow, localization across 175 plus languages, enterprise integrations and managed brand libraries.

FrameworkDefensibility analysis (commoditizing layers, durable moats, repositioning path)

    Answer this one out loud
  6. Q6

Design the launch for a new HeyGen feature aimed at creators. What makes it spread?

Product marketing here owns creative instinct around trends and distribution, along with naming and taglines. They want a plan built on the mechanics of how things travel, with named channels and a hook you can say out loud.

FrameworkDistribution-led launch (hook and naming, creator seeding, channel sequencing, feedback loop)

    Answer this one out loud

What they look for

Product marketing here fits a distribution and virality profile more than a classic enterprise one. The bar combines product fluency, creative instinct for trends, ownership of the launch story end to end including naming and taglines, and strong writing across formats. Bring things you wrote that traveled.

One expectation tells you more than the rest. They want someone working at the intersection of product marketing and cultural relevance, with an informed view of what is resonating in AI, video and the creator economy. Have that view ready and keep it current to the week.

The business is hybrid, so both halves get tested. HeyGen passed $200M in revenue in June 2026 after doubling in eight months, serves 196 countries and 175 plus languages, and 85 percent of the Fortune 100 use it for training, enablement and localization. Freemium spread and enterprise expansion have to work together.

Insider tips

Ask about scope before you start any exercise. One marketing applicant reviewed the entire go to market function and presented several strategy points. If the ask is that large, it is fair to request a narrower brief or a conversation about how the work will be used.

Make something with the product and show it. An avatar video explaining a HeyGen feature beats a slide about how you would market one. It also demonstrates the creative instinct they keep asking about.

Whatever the title on the door, ask where product marketing will sit in six months. HeyGen has bundled it with content at times and pushed it toward enterprise pipeline at others, and those are two different jobs with two different scorecards. A recruiter who can answer that clearly is telling you the function is settled.

Reading HeyGen's questions is the easy part. Answering one out loud, cold, with a follow-up coming is the part that falls apart in the room. That's what Mokk trains.
