Interview format
Runway does not publish an interview process. One candidate account for a go to market role describes a call with the C suite, a call with the People team, an assignment, a presentation of that assignment to the GTM team, an onsite with four Runway people, reference checks and then a verbal offer. That person put the whole cycle at roughly twenty days.
Treat that as one person’s description of one loop and not a published standard. The level is more reliable. Runway buys product marketing at the Director and VP end, so expect senior interviewers and a loop that tests judgment more than execution.
Plan for an assignment and a presentation either way. Product marketing owns the enterprise segment at Runway and gets measured on business growth, so build the assignment around a segment plan with numbers in it. A messaging document on its own will read as the wrong instinct here.
Sample questions
6 questionsQ1
Runway Creative, Runway Dev and Runway Robotics sit under one brand. Where does the world models story help and where does it confuse the buyer?
A marketing director buying video generation cares about turnaround time and rights clearance, not frontier research. The same story lands differently with a developer on the API or a robotics team. They want to hear you route the narrative by audience while keeping one company story intact.
FrameworkBrand architecture (master narrative, audience specific entry points, message routing by segment)

How do you move the company story toward world models without losing the creators and studios paying today?
Runway shipped its first world model in December 2025 and frames it as the path to robotics, medicine and scientific discovery. Gen-4.5 meanwhile added native audio, long form multi shot generation and character consistency for the people already paying. The risk is a narrative that flatters investors and leaves customers behind, so show how you sequence it.
FrameworkNarrative transition (base protection, proof sequencing, message layering over time)

OpenAI, Google and Adobe can bundle video generation into products people already own and price it at zero. What is your counter?
Sora, Veo, Genie and Firefly all reach users through existing distribution. Runway has to win on something that survives a free alternative, which usually means control, consistency, workflow integration and the trust of rights holders. Avoid answering with model quality alone, because that gap keeps closing.
FrameworkCompetitive defense (differentiation beyond model quality, switching costs, workflow depth)
Answer this one out loudQ4
You own the enterprise segment. How do you convert prosumer usage into enterprise contracts?
Every major film studio uses Runway, alongside brands like Chime, Robinhood, Allstate, PayPal, Yamaha, Siemens and SoFi. Individual seats already exist inside those companies. They want a land and expand mechanic with usage signals, champion identification and a commercial trigger you can name.
FrameworkLand and expand (usage signal to sales trigger, champion enablement, seat to contract motion)

Training data provenance shapes what you can say in market. How does that constrain your positioning?
Studios and rights holders will not sign until they trust where the data came from. This is a positioning constraint before it is a legal one, and the PMM decides which claims the company can defend. Show that you would build the claim set with legal, instead of writing copy and sending it for approval.
FrameworkClaims governance (defensible claim set, legal partnership, trust proof for rights holders)
Answer this one out loudQ6
You are measured on the growth of the enterprise business. What metrics do you own in the first two quarters?
Runway does not treat product marketing as a positioning and launches function. You would carry funnel numbers and run acquisition experiments with the growth team. Runway added a reported $40M of ARR in the second quarter of 2026, so name the metrics you would own and the experiments you would run against them.
FrameworkMarketing accountability (funnel metrics, experiment design with growth, pipeline contribution targets)

What they look for
Runway rules out the version of this job most people prepare for. You own the success of the enterprise segment and get measured on the growth of the business. Shipped assets and messaging consistency count as table stakes here, never as results. Treat every answer as a business answer with marketing inside it.
Audience definition has to come from hands on customer research, win loss analysis and usage data. Runway wants vertical value propositions for media, retail and ecommerce, and software. That means three distinct stories built from evidence you gathered yourself. Say how many customer conversations you ran last quarter and what changed because of them.
This is a Director or VP level hire, so the bar includes turning insight into a point of view that product and leadership build against. Comfort with funnel metrics and acquisition experiments alongside a growth team is stated directly. Bring one example where your research moved the roadmap and one where your experiment moved a number.
Insider tips
Runway raised a $315M Series E in February 2026 led by General Atlantic at a $5.3B valuation, with Nvidia, Fidelity, Adobe and AMD participating. Adobe is an investor and a competitor at the same time. Having a view on that relationship shows you read the market and not the press release.
Use Gen-4.5 and the world model work before you talk to anyone. Generate something multi shot with audio and character consistency, then describe where it held up and where it broke. A Director level answer grounded in your own output beats a summary of the launch blog.
Prepare for the assignment. The one account that exists describes an assignment presented to the GTM team, and enterprise segment growth is what this work gets judged on. Build a segment plan with a named vertical, a pipeline target and an acquisition experiment, and you will have answered the question they are most likely to ask.
